Siesta is a part and parcel of the daily life of Spaniards. What does Siesta mean? It’s a time in the afternoon when most of the Spanish people take the rest: they stop working, going back home, having lunch, later taking a nap or just relaxing, and only after what coming back to work. Or they can have just a long lunch time without going home, as modern Spaniards do. Siesta-time usually lasts from 2 pm to 5 pm. At this time all the stores, banks, pharmacies are closed. So if you need to buy smth don’t leave it for siesta time.

This championship of Siesta was held in 2010 in Madrid, Spain. The heart beat was monitorized for preventing cheating.

The competitors had to sleep as much as they can within 20 minutes.
A snoring Ecuadorian construction worker won it with 18 minutes.
